How confident would you say you are about the things that you stand for. Are you for or against various liberal or conservative movements? Or even on a more personal scale: Are you for or against living by the moment versus careful treading, city life versus suburbs, restaurants versus home cooked meals, kids versus no kids? We are humans, we are different in many ways but one thing we most certainly share is that we have values, beliefs, dislikes and likes. We all have different things we stand for. But the question I want to ask is how confident are you in your stance for or against those things. If everyone in the world were to call you crazy for taking that stance how confident are you that you would not waver, not even a single bit? Well, as a Christian the one thing we must stand for (as it is the basis of our faith) is the GOSPEL! But the question is do we have confidence like Jesus did to stand despite the resistance we face from the world? Continue reading
Sometimes, when life throws us curve-balls we can easily fall into the trap of believing that we are in it alone. But in the same way God was in the fire with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego (Daniel 3), God is in the blazing trial with you. It is important to know that the Lord is not just by your side, He also goes before you, to fight on your behalf. Today we will talk about how we as children of God are dearly fought for by our Lord. We all face trials and tribulations. We all have a circumstance or situation that need a breakthrough. Maybe you are believing for a spouse, a new job or promotion. But I have one question for you, are you waiting on God or the circumstance? Not sure of the difference? Let me fill you in! Waiting on God is simply an act of trusting Him to do what He said He would do. So here’s a little test to find out if you are waiting on God.
Have you ever just pondered the mysteries of our mysterious God? Its like the more you get to know Him, in relationship, the less you know; as you realize to a greater extent just how massive He is! Just the other day I had a new desire to discover the mysteries of my GOD. I quickly felt uneasy, however, because it seemed like a great mission to take on, like trying to discover every nook and cranny of the universe, times infinity!
But as I prayed and asked God to reveal to me His mysteries, the Spirit led me to Jeremiah 33:3 which promises that if we, “Call to [Him], He will answer and show [us] great and mighty things, which [we] do not know.” Wow! The starting point is right there. Continue reading
Okay so I’m about to get real personal here, but I’m sure I am not the first to have gone through what I will touch on. Have you ever, just felt numb towards God and the things of God? In your heart all you want is to be and feel close to Him but in reality its just not there. Well the year of 2018 has been like that for me so far. Don’t get me wrong I love my God, and even though I felt so far from Him I still kept pushing. The problem was I was starting to feel like I was the only one trying to “fight” for our relationship. Which in hindsight is crazy!! I mean of course we can’t love God more than He loves us, but nonetheless its how I felt. On the inside I just felt a wave of “Where are you God?? BE MY GOD.” But before I go into this I will start by mentioning some of the struggles I was hit with this year.
In the book of Luke we are shown the story of Jesus’ temptation. Its so hard to believe that our perfect Saviour could have been tempted while on this earth but He was! We have to remember that He graciously gave up His glory and power to come down in full flesh like you and I.
Surface wise the story is simple, Jesus is out in the desert, fasting and praying, when out comes the conniving little Satan trying to tempt Jesus to fall. One thing I appreciate about this story is that if you closely look at the use of Satan’s words, behind his flowered promises is the truth behind the nature of his kingdom. Continue reading
God has blessed us with five senses, which facilitate our capacity to experience intense emotions and feelings, and indeed it is a blessing. He has given us the ability to experience joy, excitement, anticipation and all the more. Of course our human ability to feel, also has a dark side. In the same way we have the ability to experience emotional pain, anger, grief and more. So there’s “good” emotions and there’s “bad” emotions, but what does this mean for a faith-living child of God? How do emotions and feelings play a role, as we run with perseverance, the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1). The answer is they don’t and they shouldn’t. Here’s why… Continue reading
